Austin attorney Kelly Canavan joined DGC after fifteen years serving as a staff attorney in Texas’s appellate courts. Kelly began her legal career in Dallas as a complex commercial litigator before becoming a staff attorney to Justice Lee Gabriel on the Second Court of Appeals. Kelly moved to Austin in 2016 to serve as staff attorney at the Texas Supreme Court, first for Justice Jeffrey S. Boyd and then Justice Kyle D. Hawkins. She rejoined private practice in 2026.

Austin attorney Kelly Canavan joined DGC after fifteen years serving as a staff attorney in Texas’s appellate courts. Kelly began her legal career in Dallas as a complex commercial litigator before becoming a staff attorney to Justice Lee Gabriel on the Second Court of Appeals. Kelly moved to Austin in 2016 to serve as staff attorney at the Texas Supreme Court, first for Justice Jeffrey S. Boyd and then Justice Kyle D. Hawkins. She rejoined private practice in 2026.
Originally from Dallas, Kelly received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin, both with Highest Honors. She attended Northwestern Law School, where she was Membership Editor of the Northwestern Law Review. Kelly has been Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law since 2016.
Kelly and her husband have two dogs who love to join Kelly’s training runs for half marathons and triathlons. Kelly is also a certified group fitness instructor and occasionally teaches classes at the YMCA.
