Rob Hargrove represents oil and gas producers and occasionally landowners in oil and gas disputes, both in courthouse litigation and in contested cases before the Railroad Commission of Texas.  In addition to Texas state courts, Rob is licensed in the Federal District Courts for the Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas, as well as the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.  He has handled oil and gas litigation matters around the State and has presented oral argument in a number of Texas intermediate Courts of Appeals.

Rob is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and he is on the Council of the Oil, Gas & Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas (term expires in 2023).  He is frequently asked to be a speaker at Texas oil and gas CLE presentations.

Rob is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and was on the Council of the Administrative and Public Law Section of the State Bar of Texas from 2017 through 2021.  He was the chair of the Oil and Gas Section of the Austin Bar Association in the 2012-2013 bar year.

Rob grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in English in 1997.  He received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 2001.  He’s practiced law in Austin his whole career. Rob is married to a lawyer, and they have three children, a dog, a bird, and a guinea pig.
